Our show Arlecchino & Felicity flew to London: from 5 to 8 August we had the pleasure and privilege of participating in the Camden Fringe Festival , hosted by the Etcetera Theatre in the heart of one of the most extravagant and cool neighborhoods in Great Britain. We had the audacity to bring a reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet right to the city where Shakespeare’s theater was born and flourished; we dared to place the bard’s masterpiece alongside the Italian Commedia dell’Arte; we chose to verify with the Anglo-Saxon public whether our linguistic operation between Italian and English works, whether the fusion between two such different cultures is possible. The operation seems to have been successful and we return to Italy enriched and strengthened by this second important international showcase, after that of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. This time too we had the honor of hosting an ever-larger audience of university professors and directors, journalists and actors, people of all nationalities and all ages. Once again the strength of Vanni Carpenedo ‘s physicality, Betty Andriolo ‘s versatility, their ability to empathize with the spectators, in any circumstance, are confirmed. Once again we thank our producer Valerie Kaneko-Lucas without whom all this would not be possible, we thank those who supported us here in England and also from Italy, we thank Shakespeare for having written the most beautiful verses and story of all time, we thank the comedians of art for having handed down to us a cultural heritage thanks to which the Italian style is still unmistakable and appreciated abroad. We hope that, in addition to linguistic and cultural experimentation, a seed of our ethical and spiritual research has also been planted, through which the story of the two young lovers becomes a metaphor for seeking oneself and one’s own blossoming thanks to a love free from ties to the past, from one’s origins and from the conditioning to which life subjects us. We return to Italy ready to face our new season of courses and shows full of enthusiasm and we are happy to share two reviews that talk about us and our magnificent experience at the Camden Fringe 2024: Everything Theatre and Theatre Reviews Kurahashi , which we thank from the bottom of our hearts.
